Voting Absentee in the Spring Primary Election

TOWN OF BAYFIELD

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

Spring Primary Election – February 18, 2020

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot.  A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 consecutive days before the election.  The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot. 

·  You may complete an application to request an absentee ballot be emailed or mailed at:
https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/VoteAbsentee

·  Applications are also available on the Town of Bayfield website www.townofbayfieldwi.gov.  Click on the Government Tab, then Election Information. 

·  You may also request an absentee ballot by letter or email.  Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address/email address where the absentee ballot should be sent. 

·  A copy of an acceptable Photo ID must be provided with requests unless already on file.  For information about acceptable photo IDs please visit http://bringit.wisconsin.gov

Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail

·  The deadline for making application to vote absentee by mail is 5pm on the fifth day before the election, February 13th, 2020.

  Voting by absentee ballot in person

·  You can also personally go to the clerk’s office to vote an absentee ballot during the hours specified for casting an absentee ballot.  The first day to vote absentee in person is January 23rd, 2020.  The last day to vote absentee in person is February 14th, 2020.

Photo ID will be requested of all in-person absentee voters.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on Tuesday, February 18th, 2020.  Ballots must be received by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18th, 2020 to be counted.
