VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

 

Special Election for Representative in Congress District 7

 

May 12th, 2020

 

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot.  A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 consecutive days before the election.  The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot.

  Voting by absentee ballot in person

 

·  You can go to the clerk’s office to vote an absentee ballot.  The first day to vote absentee in person is Monday, March 30th, 2020.  The last day to vote absentee in person is Friday, May 8th, 2020.

Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail

 

The deadline for making application to vote absentee by mail is 5pm on the fifth day before the election, Thursday, May 7th, 2020. Paper Applications are available through the Town of Bayfield website   www.townofbayfieldwi.gov.  Click on the Government Tab, then Election Information.  You may also request an absentee ballot by letter or email.  Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address/email address where the absentee ballot should be sent.  Mail or email to the address listed above. A copy of an acceptable Photo ID must be provided with requests unless already on file.  For information about acceptable photo IDs please visit http://bringit.wisconsin.gov 

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on Tuesday, May 12th, 2020 to be counted.
