VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT
General Election – November 8th, 2022
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot.
TO OBTAIN AN ABSENTEE BALLOT YOU MUST MAKE A REQUEST IN WRITING OR ONLINE.

https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/VoteAbsentee - Applications are also available on the Town of Bayfield website townofbayfieldwi.gov. Click on the Government Tab, then Election Information.
- You may also request an absentee ballot by letter. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address/email address where the absentee ballot should be sent, and your signature.
- A copy of an acceptable Photo ID must be provided with the request unless already on file. For information about acceptable photo IDs please visit http://bringit.wisconsin.gov

Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail
- Ballots are currently available to be mailed to valid absentee requests on file and as received up until the deadline. The deadline for making application to vote absentee by mail is 5pm on the fifth day before the election, November 3rd, 2022.
Voting by absentee ballot in person
- You can also personally go to the clerk’s office, complete a written application, and vote an absentee ballot during the hours specified for casting an absentee ballot:

Photo ID will be requested of all in-person absentee voters.
- The first day to vote an absentee ballot in the Clerk’s Office is October 25th, 2022. The deadline for voting an absentee ballot in the Clerk’s Office is November 4th, 2022.
- Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk.
- Military Electors should contact the municipal clerk regarding the deadlines for requesting or submitting an absentee ballot.
- The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on November 8th, 2022. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.
