TOWN OF BAYFIELD

Real Estate Tax Payment Information

As of December 10th, 2025, Town of Bayfield tax bills are being mailed and should arrive shortly.  Please review the information below:

When to pay your real estate taxes:

First half payments or payments in full are due to the Town of Bayfield Treasurer by January 31, 2026.

To Pay By Mail:

Please send tax payments to Billie L. Hoopman, Town Treasurer,  P.O. Box 742, Bayfield, WI  54814

  • NOTE: Second half payments must be mailed to: Jenna Gallaghen, Bayfield County Treasurer, P.O. Box 397, Washburn, WI  54891
  • NOTE: Do NOT wait until the last day to mail your taxes:  Please read the following on new postmark guidance from USPS - Postmark changes at the Post Office and late mail | WisLawNOW.   The post office may now no longer postmark items “same day” which could cause some issues for our last-minute taxpayers.  The 5-day grace period helps with this a bit, but it may be helpful for you not to wait until the last day to mail your taxes.  If you do, you may consider kindly requesting your postmaster to hand stamp your tax payment with the date of mailing.

Drop Off: You are welcome to drop your tax payment in the locked payment box outside the Town Hall.  Please include your Tax ID# with your payment.

Pay Online:

You can pay on-line at: https://www.govpaynow.com/gps/user/cyg/plc/a0038z.

  • NOTE: There is a non-refundable 2.95% transaction fee for using the online payment system. Only payments due to the Town of Bayfield can be made at this site.

How to obtain a copy of your real estate tax bill, a receipt or a tax statement:

If you pay by mail or use the drop box and a receipt is requested, YOU must provide a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment.

If you need copies of your bill, a statement, or a receipt please visit:  https://novus.bayfieldcounty.wi.gov.   You can find all this information on Bayfield County’s Tax Novus website.  NOVUS is the county’s online tax, property, and assessment information database.
